Shiner’s puppies have reached the one week mark. They are growing quickly and thriving under the watchful eye of their loving mother. They are starting to squirm around more, but still spend most of their time nursing or sleeping. They are already being held and snuggled regularly so that they are well socialized by the time they go to their forever homes.
The puppies cannot see or hear so they use their sense of smell and touch to find their mother’s nipples and in order to move around they scoot and roll. They are pretty fast at this maneuver when they wake up away from their mother. Like all puppies at this stage, they are still very vulnerable so Shiner continues to be very attentive and protective of her babies as they grow. She will only briefly get up from snuggling with them to potty outside, eat, and then clean up after her puppies. Once her “chores” are done she goes right back down to snuggling her pups.
